Retail delivery usually stops at the door, or at best sets the machine in place and leaves the connection to you. We handle the part that matters: levelling, water and drain connections, the electrical or vent hookup, and running the machine before we leave so a leak shows up while someone is standing there rather than overnight.
Dryer vents deserve their own mention because they are the most under-attended fire risk in an average home. Lint accumulates in the duct run, the dryer works harder, cycles get longer, and the back of the machine runs hot. Long duct runs and rooftop terminations — both common in homes around here — collect lint faster than a short side-wall vent. If your dryer has started needing two cycles to dry a load, that is the symptom.
We also repair rather than replace where repair makes sense, and will say plainly when it does not. On an older machine with a failed major component, the honest advice is often to put the money toward a new one, and you will get that advice even though it is the smaller job.
Questions
Common questions
How often should a dryer vent be cleaned?
About once a year for most households, and more often with a large family, a long duct run, or a rooftop termination. The signals to watch for are loads needing more than one cycle, the machine or the laundry room getting unusually hot, or a damp smell. It is a genuine fire-risk item, not a maintenance upsell.
Can you install a dishwasher where there was not one before?
Sometimes — it depends on cabinet space, whether water and drain can be reached from the sink cabinet, and whether there is an appropriate electrical supply. That is a look-first job rather than a quote-over-the-phone job. Send photos of the cabinet run and the sink cabinet interior and we can usually tell you quickly whether it is feasible.
Is it worth repairing my dryer or should I replace it?
Rough rule: if the machine is more than about eight years old and the failed part is a major one, replacement usually wins. Under that, or where the fault is a belt, roller, thermal fuse or vent restriction, repair is normally the better buy. We will tell you which applies to yours before doing the work, including when the answer costs us the job.
